A team of Polk County youth will be featured in the Lone Star Junior Football Super Bowl Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Junior Division Corrigan Bulldogs with an 8-1 record are set to take on the Newton Eagles in Buna’s Cougar Stadium.
The Junior Corrigan Bulldogs have defeated several East Texas teams this season, with victories over Warren, Woodville, Kirbyville, Huntington, Lufkin, Silsbee, and Deweyville.
Now, with 8-1 record, they face their toughest challenge in a rematch against the Newton Eagles. In their last regular season matchup, the Bulldogs, ages 8-10, narrowly fell to Newton 13-12.
Corrigan reached the game by defeating Deweyville 12-6, scoring a touchdown in the final minute.
Also in the Junior League are Buna, Mauriceville and Kountze.
Members of the squad include Aiven Hinojosa, Jahmeir Brown, Jackson Wars, Kahlil White, Brantley Barrett, Kayson Brooks, Greyson Golden, Jase Hance, Quentin Petty, Hadley Baker, Kort Arbuckle, Grayson Lopez, Aaron Washington, Reid Arbuckle, Brandon Bryan Jr., Walker Park, Terrence Washington, Braeden Myers, Billy Jones, Luis Caballero IV and Broxson Fuller.
Leading the team are head coach Francisco Lopez and assistant coaches Luis Caballero, Chad Arbuckle, Richard Fuller and Tyler Myers.
