The Polk County Commissioners Court, during its regular meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, will enter into an executive session to discuss and consider filling the positions of maintenance superintendent and human resources director.
The Court will consider approval to advertise a request for proposals for a psychologist to perform pre-employment evaluations for law enforcement.
A request from Anco Insurance to reassign the lease of office space at 321 N. Beatty to Hub International.
A prohibited technologies policy will be discussed and considered for approval.
The Court will consider action regarding a request to the Texas Department of Transportation for surplus materials.
A property tax exemption for childcare facilities amendment, Texas Proposition 2, will be discussed and considered for approval.
An order establishing a personal bond office will be discussed and considered for approval.
The Court will discuss and consider action to proceed with project selection for the General Land Office Disaster Recovery Reallocation Program Competition.
A request for a certificate of exemption to exempt from county subdivision regulations the development of Abstract 82 James Wood Survey (4.04 acres) located in Precinct 3 and consisting of one tract, with access to existing public road and no other common areas or streets, while remaining an agriculture exempt property, will be considered.
The Court will consider approval, approval upon conditions met, or rejection of High Ridge Ranch Subdivision located in Precinct 3.
The Court will also consider approval to amend the Texas Historical Commission grant award for supplemental funding.
In personnel matters, the Court will consider action on personnel action forms submitted by department heads and review any authorized hires. Additionally, the Court will consider requests to pay out straight-time hours earned by the maintenance supervisor and human resources director upon separation, utilizing available funds from the maintenance and human resources salary line items.
Fiscal year 2024 and fiscal year 2025 revisions and amendments, as presented by the county auditor’s office, will be considered for approval.
Items on the consent agenda include:
• Approve minutes of the Oct. 22 and Nov. 5 meetings;
• Approve schedules of bills;
• Approve order designating surplus property;
• Receive county auditor’s monthly report, pursuant to Local Government Code Sec. 114.025;
• Receive and record personnel action forms submitted by elected officials since the last meeting;
• Receive and record continuing education certification/transcript of elected officials, as submitted;
• Approvement enrollment in Texas Association of Counties cybersecurity training;
• Approve to purchase rights of way along Nine Bridges Road as related to off-system bridge replacement at Piney Creek Branch in Precinct 3;
• Approve resolution to apply to the Environmental Protection Agency for environmental and climate justice community change grant for landfill gas to energy project;
• Approve resolution to submit application for sheriff’s office taskforce grant program to the motor vehicle crime prevention authority;
• Approve resolution to submit application to the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for veterans general assistance grant program;
• Approve the appointment of James Golden as reserve deputy constable for Precinct 2;
• Authorize the Polk County Higher Education & Technology Foundation to replace the flooring at the Polk County Commerce Center, at no cost to the county;
• Approve one-year maintenance agreement with Chester Moore & Sons for the animal control center septic system;
• Renew agreement with Integrated Data Services for county clerk’s imaging software maintenance for fiscal year 2025;
• Renew agreement with I3 Verticals for icon services, to include cloud hosting services;
• Approve agreement with Langford Community Management Services for wildfire defense grant administration;
• Approve agreement with Houston Fire & Security for fire monitoring services at the Dunbar Gym; and
• Receive report from the sexual assault response team (SART) as required by Local Government Code, Chapter 351.
The Court will present two proclamations – one recognizing Nov. 11-17 as Polk County Recycles Week, and the other recognizing the 100th birthday of Nita Mahaffey.
During informational reports, a report on Friends of Lake Livingston will be presented and an increase in gate rate fees at the Polk County Landfill, effective Dec. 1, will be announced.
