The (3-1) Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs will travel for the final regular-season game against the (3-1) Centerville Tigers this Friday.

The last district matchup at Centerville will ultimately decide which of the two teams will take the runner-up spot in District 12-2A Division 1 behind Leon.

The defending-champion Tigers, led by long-time head coach Kyle Hardee, were upset 28-14 by Leon last month for their single district loss.

Corrigan was also handed their one district loss at home last week by Leon, falling short of the district title.

The Bulldogs will play against Garrison or Waskom in the opening playoff round depending on the outcome of Friday’s match.

Centerville is coming off a 45-6 blowout victory on the road last week at Normangee. During district play so far, the Tigers have scored over 35 points per game and allowed just under 15 points.

By comparison, the Bulldogs have averaged 32 points and allowed an average 20 points during that time.

Last season, the Tigers finished undefeated in district and 9-1 overall. Despite a strong regular season, Centerville was knocked out of the first playoff round by Joaquin.

Corrigan closed out last regular season with a 49-20 loss to the Tigers. The Bulldogs battled back from an early deficit, cutting the lead to one score in the third quarter before Centerville’s powerful ground game took over.

“Centerville is always consistently good and a very well-coached, hard-nosed football team. That is not any different this year,” said Bulldog head coach Brett Ratliff. “They have had some injuries throughout the year where they have to do some different things. They are smart enough to do different things formationally. I do believe we are the team that could go four quarters with them.”

Key weapons for the Tiger offense include senior quarterback Wyatt Burleson and junior running back Amarius Phillips.

Kickoff for Friday’s regular season finale is set for 7 p.m. at Tiger stadium.
