Precinct 2 Commissioner Mark DuBose is seeking reelection in the March 3 primary.
“I am dedicated to service and committed to the people of Polk County. My tenure in public service extends more than two decades and began within Polk County, where I served 17 years with the Polk County Sheriff ’s Office. Through successive assignments and increasing levels of responsibility, I gained a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement operations, personnel needs, and the demands placed upon those entrusted with public safety. This experience established the foundation for my approach to public administration and community service.
“Subsequently, I served as a captain with the Onalaska Police Department, further expanding my perspective on operational readiness, interagency coordination, and the critical relationship between effective infrastructure, safety, and community stability. These combined experiences continue to inform my decisions as county commissioner.
“Upon assuming office as commissioner for Precinct 2, I committed to ensuring that deputies and first responders receive appropriate compensation, resources, and institutional support. Having worked directly in the field, I recognize the importance of maintaining a prepared, well-supported workforce to ensure the consistent delivery of essential services.
“The key areas of service are deputy compensation and workforce support; public safety infrastructure; roadway and infrastructure improvements; fiscal stewardship; and commitment to accessibility and public engagement.
“I have worked in coordination with county leadership to prioritize improvements in deputy pay, recognizing the importance of competitive compensation for recruitment, retention, and operational continuity.
“I have supported targeted investments in law enforcement, emergency response operations, and associated infrastructure to maintain reliable service capacity and enhance readiness across the county.
“Acknowledging the fundamental role of transportation networks, I have secured funding and advanced projects focused on roadway maintenance, drainage improvement, and infrastructure reliability to meet the needs of residents, school transportation, and local commerce.
“I remain committed to the responsible management of taxpayer resources. All budgetary decisions are made with attention to transparency, efficiency, and long-term fiscal sustainability.
“Throughout my service, I have maintained an open and accessible office, ensuring that the concerns of Precinct 2 residents are received, reviewed, and addressed through measured and results-oriented actions.
“Looking forward, I remain committed to continued support for law enforcement and emergency responders; ongoing investment in essential infrastructure; and transparent, accountable governance that reflects the priorities of Polk County residents.”
