A shooting Wednesday afternoon at Futurewise on the corner of Highway 146 and FM 1988 resulted in one man airlifted for medical treatment and another in police custody.
"We don't have names or all of the information," Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons said at the crime scene. "There was some type of disturbance, and an individual was shot here in the parking lot. He has been transported by Life Flight with our EMS helicopter to a hospital down south.
"At this point, there is no further danger. The shooter has been detained at the sheriff's office."
Lyons said the shooter remained in the parking lot of what was formerly known as R&D grocery. He was detained without incident and is being questioned by law enforcement.
A red pickup near a gas pump was covered in police tape and it is unclear whether the vehicle belonged to the shooter or victim. It was later towed.
Lyons said the Polk County Sheriff's Office will release more information as it becomes available. The Polk County Enterprise will update this story at that time.
