John Wayne Baskin, 84, of Livingston, passed away on October 20, 2024.

John W. Baskin was born in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduation, he moved to Stockton, Calif., to attend Bible School. While attending college, he met Faye Marie Watson, and they were married on August 10, 1962. They then moved to Livingston, Texas, where he started building houses. They called Livingston home for the rest of their lives. Faye passed away in 2001 after a battle with cancer. He remarried Lana Kay Baskin from Corpus Christi, Texas, and they spent time between Corpus and Livingston.

John was an old car enthusiast who owned and restored old cars. John liked to design and build and used his talents to create numerous projects, including houses, subdivisions, hotels, churches, restaurants, apartments, and commercial buildings throughout the area. John was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Church, where he served in many different capacities.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Welbourn Baskin and Mildred Short Baskin, and his first wife, Faye Marie Watson Baskin.

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Lana Kay Baskin; sons, John Gregory Baskin and wife, Denise of Camden, Bryan Lee Baskin and wife, Leesa of Lufkin; step-daughter, Jenda Jill Parker and husband, Rodney of Corpus; grandchildren, John Nicholas Baskin of Camden, Todd Gregory Baskin and wife, Stacie of Lufkin, Derek Alan Baskin and wife, Amy of Lufkin, Zachary Lee Baskin and wife, Baylee of Dequincy, La., Justin Evan Baskin and wife, Hope of Richardson, Texas, Caylin Nicole Baskin of Lufkin, Derek Jonathan Parker and wife, Jessa of Portland, Texas, and Trevor Drake Parker and wife, Erica of Knoxville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Auda Faye Baskin, Colton Gregory Baskin, Grantlee Daniel Baskin, Weston Ray Baskin and Brightly Parker; brothers, Don Cary Baskin and wife Annita, James Nathan Baskin and wife Arlene, Gene Dale Baskin and wife Darlene; sister-in-law, Cathy Hutchins; brother-in-law, Don Breithaupt and wife Jonie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Center Grove Church with burial to follow in Center Grove Cemetery in Polk County, Texas. Pastor Cary Baskin and Rev. Tom Murphy will officiate.

Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home, Woodville, Texas. 385
