Corrigan-Camden has won a playoff game for the first time since 2020, sweeping the Danbury Lady Panthers 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20.
The Lady Bulldogs ended the regular season tied for third place with Hemphill. They are the Division I second seed.
In the first set, Corrigan was down by as much as five, but managed to come from behind most of the night.
“It was kind of like that most of the sets,” Corrigan-Camden coach Grace Beckmeyer said. “We would be down and end up coming back.” I would definitely say Cammy Parrish, our outside hitter (was a standout). She had a very high hitting percentage tonight and she definitely helped us.”
Parrish had 10 kills, Brissia Pablo had seven, and Kaylee Garcia six. Garcia also had six aces while serving.
They have had really good attitudes,” Beckmeyer said. “They are really excited to play every point, and they don’t worry when they mess up. They just play for the next point.”
The turnaround for the team has been noticeable. They were 2-3 through the first round of district play, but improved to 4-1 in the second round.
The team will advance to play Jewett Leon in the area round. The Lady Cougars are a traditional playoff power. The game could be Thursday, Friday or Saturday with a site to be determined.
