Livingston Lady Lion soccer played their final home game of the regular season at Lion Stadium Friday, taking an 8-0 win over East Chambers, 8-0. The Lady Lion senior athletes were honored before the game. They include varsity manager Itzairy Perez, defender Ytzel Davalos, midfielder Veronica Camacho, defender Maddison Llanes.
“I think this group has been such a success due to their ability to adapt,” Livingston coach Sonya Chaka said. “We have had several obstacles to overcome this season, but the girls keep on pushing through. The team itself is very young and I look forward to seeing what they are capable of in the future. As a coach, I could not be more proud of them, and hope they have enjoyed the year as much as I have.”
Two goals each were scored by Evelyn Carreon, Genesis Sanchez, and Veronica Villanueva, while Fabiola Rosas and Ytzel Davalos each collected a goal.
The girls have qualified for the playoffs, and the opening match will be March 20 at Hardin-Jefferson versus Vidor. A warm-up game is scheduled against Hudson on March 18 at 6 p.m. at Hudson High School.
