Local law enforcement says a major narcotics distributor has been arrested following a joint county and state investigation. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office narcotics division and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) criminal investigations division have concluded a long-term investigation into a narcotics distribution operation within Polk County.
Through extensive investigative efforts, law enforcement personnel developed sufficient probable cause to obtain arrest and search warrants for the residence of Charlie Joe King III. Through the investigation and search warrant, police recovered a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics that include approximately one kilogram of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, pressed fentanyl pills, pressed methamphetamine pills, 10 pounds of synthetic marijuana (K2), and a large quantity of marijuana.
Evidence indicated King was actively manufacturing narcotics within his kitchen and storing various controlled substances throughout the residence, including areas easily accessible to his young child.
Additionally, investigators seized numerous firearms during the search. Subsequent checks revealed that several of the firearms were confirmed stolen. Warrants related to the unlawful possession of these firearms are forthcoming.
King III was arrested and formally charged with several offenses, including seven counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, as well as abandoning or endangering a child.
Additional arrests and charges are expected, as law enforcement continues to pursue leads and execute further warrants.
Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons and Chief Deputy Anthony Lowrie wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the Texas Department of Public Safety criminal investigations division for their dedicated assistance, time, and resources devoted to combating the illegal sale of narcotics in Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said they remain committed to aggressively targeting those who threaten the safety and well-being of the community through the distribution of dangerous narcotics.
