Bobby Tillman, the Democratic nominee for Texas Senate District 3, attended the “Gathering of Neighbors” hosted by the Democratic Club of Polk County May 16 at the club headquarters located at 3626 U.S. Highway 190 in Livingston.

Tillman, a sixth generation Texan, has spent over 40 years in the commercial flooring industry and the last 15 raising beef cattle in East Texas. He visited with attendees and discussed issues important to local voters, as well as the upcoming midterm elections.

The casual community gathering welcomed members, friends and neighbors and focused on providing voter information for the Democratic Primary Runoff Election. Attendees received sample ballots and informational flyers outlining the early voting dates and locations, as well as Election Day voting on May 26. Democratic runoff races remaining on the ballot include attorney general and lieutenant governor.

A total of 54 community members attended the event, enjoying hot dogs, chips, conversation and fellowship with neighbors and friends.

Tickets were also available for purchase for the Democratic Club of Polk County’s upcoming “Summer Celebration of Neighbors in Action,” scheduled for 6-9 p.m. June 18 at the Polk County Commerce Center.

The Democratic Club of Polk County welcomes the public to attend future meetings and community events. The club meets at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Across the Tracks located at 309 N. Jackson in Livingston.
