M. Yvonne Horton was born to Gustav Johnson and Vivian Lickley on July 29,1935 in Chicago, Illinois. She passed from this Earth on November 29, 2024, at 89 years old.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bruce M. Horton and her children: Bruce, David, John and Carolyn. She was blessed with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren who brought her much joy in her later years.
Yvonne grew up in Chicago with her four siblings and after graduation from high school she attended the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. While in nursing school, she met her future husband, Bruce.
She had many passions and hobbies throughout her life including cross-stitch, embroidery, reading, bike riding, cooking, baking, traveling, quilting, macrame and gardening. Clubs and organizations she was involved with included the Central Baptist Church, Rainbow Stompers line dancing, Escapees RV club and Adventure Caravans. Bike-riding with Bruce in Europe, New Zealand and across the United States were highlights of her travels, as well as many wonderful RV trips as staff with Adventure Caravans in Alaska, Mexico, The Maritimes, Africa, Europe and Central America.
