A Livingston man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Livingston police officers were dispatched to Matthews Street Park for an assault in progress.

When officers arrived, they quickly located the suspect who had assaulted a family member. The suspect, Robert Jones, 38, ran from officers on Matthews Street. When law enforcement caught up, two LPD officers were forced to deploy Tasers in order to safely take him into custody.

Jones was taken to the Polk County Jail and charged with assaulting a family member by impeding breath or circulation, evading arrest or detention, and resisting arrest.

The Livingston Police Department would like to remind all that help is available for anyone experiencing family violence.
