During the early morning hours Wednesday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Criminal Investigations Division assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Crimes Unit in executing a search warrant in the Cedar Point subdivision.
The investigation, initiated by the DPS Special Crimes Unit, involved allegations of child pornography obtained via the internet.
As a result of the investigation, Jose Angel Sanchez, 47, of Livingston, was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.
Two of the charges are first-degree felonies, each carrying a potential sentence of 5-99 years or life imprisonment. The remaining three charges are third-degree felonies, each punishable by 2-10 years in prison.
Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons stated that the Polk County Sheriff’s Office will continue to collaborate with state and federal agencies to protect children and pursue those who exploit them.
The investigation remains ongoing with the possibility of more charges filed.
