Chamber excited about future direction, leadership

It is official. Brenda Clifton has been named president/CEO of the Livingston-Polk County Chamber of Commerce, having served as interim president since October.

“I would like to thank my board of directors, ambassadors and members for their support. I am excited to take on this new role,” Clifton said.

“We are excited about the future under her leadership as we build on the success of our programs and initiatives, continuing to support our members and promote local businesses,” a statement from the chamber’s board of directors said. “The chamber remains committed to driving positive impact and advancing opportunities for our members and the local economy. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we embark on this next chapter together.”

“It is exciting times for Polk County and I am proud to be an integral part of it. I am ready to represent our businesses and promote tourism in our area. Our town is growing so fast as we have many new businesses opening. I am ready to represent not only them, but also our members that we have had for many years,” Clifton said.

Born and raised in Livingston, Clifton has deep roots and family ties to the community and said she would not choose to live anywhere else and raise her family. She is married to John Frank Clifton who owns Clifton Chevrolet in Corrigan. They have three sons – Cory Davis, Keil Davis and Cole Clifton and one grandson, Blake Davis.

 

Upcoming chamber activities

Clifton said she was pleased with how the recent Battle of the Businesses – the chamber’s second annual bowling tournament – turned out and that she is looking forward to adding some new and exciting events to freshen things up.

  • Power Hour from 4:30-5:30 p.m. May 7 at The Wet Deck
  • Quarterly Membership Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 20 at Cho-Yeh
  • Ribbon Cutting at 2 p.m. May 22 at Lagoon Ranch
  • Learning Lunch at noon May 27 at the chamber office
  • Smoke in the Pines Barbecue Cookoff June 27-28 at Pedigo Park
