Deadline nears for art contest

Entries may be viewed at upcoming Earth Day event

Polk County Recycling & Beautification (PCRB) invites artists of all ages to participate in its 2026 “Upcycled” Art Contest by showcasing your creativity while promoting recycling, beautification and care for the environment.

April 18 is the deadline for submission. Completed artwork and an entry form may be submitted to the Polk County Recycling Center located at 10311 Hwy. 146 by April 18. The recycling center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The entry form may be found at https://www.pcrbtexas.org/contest.

 

All entries should fit into of the following themes: Earth Day, nature, recycling or eco-friendly. There are two divisions – under 14/family division and adult division ages 14+.

 

Winning artwork may be displayed in local businesses. Photos of winning entries and artists will be featured on the PCRB website and Facebook page. All eligible entries will be posted on Facebook.

 

PCRB also invites everyone to come out and celebrate spring, support local recycling efforts, Keep Polk County Beautiful and view all eligible entries at the 2026 Earth Day Celebration from 1-4 p.m. April 19 at Tempe Creek Vineyard located at 307 Dickens Ranch Rd.

 

Admission is free, although donations are accepted and appreciated. There will be a bake sale, games, a plant sale/swap, a silent auction and raffles. Music will be provided by Bill Powell Entertainment. Attendees will also have the opportunity view the “Upcycled” Art Show featuring 2026 Art Contest entries. Free wine will be available, or you may bring your own beer or wine.
