George Avery, a member of the San Augustine Lions Club and the district governor for Lion District 2-S1, addressed the Livingston Lions Club Wednesday during a visit to the local service club’s meeting.
Avery said he visits clubs within the district to get sense of what’s going on. Commenting on what a large club the Livingston one is, Avery said he is supposed to be recruiting people, but that he’s not a recruiter.
Employed at Stephen F. Austin State University, Avery said he is the sponsor for the campus Lions Club.
He talked a little bit about specialty groups within Lions Club, adding that he is among a group of people that is trying to get a Spanish language Lions Club in Nacogdoches and one in Lufkin.
