Early voting for Tuesday’s General Election ended Friday night with a total of 2,275 ballots being cast by personal appearance.
Voters throughout the state were voting “for” or “against” 17 proposed constitutional amendments, all of which were joint resolutions approved by at least two-thirds of the Texas House and Senate in order to be placed on the ballot.
Voters within the city limits of the City of Livingston headed to the polls to elect three “at large” council members.
Incumbents Dr. Raymond J. Luna, Elgin Davis and Bobby Charles Jackson Sr. all sought reelection and Marty Drake also filed his candidacy for election to the city council. Because these are “at large” seats, the three with the most votes will be elected to the council.
Election Day results were not available at press time, but will be posted on easttexasnews.com and the Polk County Enterprise Facebook page upon receipt and will be reported in the Nov. 9 issue of the newspaper.
