Voters in the cities of Onalaska and Corrigan will head to the polls Saturday to cast ballots for mayor and city council members.
Voting in Onalaska will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Onalaska City Hall located at 372 South FM 356 in Onalaska. Voting in Corrigan will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sechrest Webster Community Center located at 100 W. Front St. in Corrigan.
The City of Onalaska will elect a mayor and two “at large” council members. Incumbent Mayor James Arnett is seeking reelection. Other individuals running for mayor are Oz Canel and Bart Goldsmith. Four people are seeking election to two “at large” seats that are presently held by Kevin Arnett and Kathy Black Lott. The four people running are Kevin Arnett, Kathy Black Lott, Michael Gooch and Traci Dennison. As these are “at large” positions, the two people with the highest number of votes will be elected to the positions.
In the City of Corrigan, the mayor’s position and Positions 2 and 4 will be on the ballot. Incumbent Mayor Johnna Lowe Gibson will remain mayor as she did not receive any challengers. Bill Safford opted not to run again for Position 2 although two others have filed for that position, Minnie Harrison and Lucia “Candy” Ascencio. Phelicha Jolly will remain in Position 4 as she is running unopposed.
Goodrich, Onalaska and Corrigan-Camden (ISDs) would have held trustee elections on May 2. However, as no one other than the incumbents filed, the three districts were able to cancel their elections and deem the incumbents reelected.
