The Board of Trustees of the Livingston Independent School District approved Interim Superintendent Janan Moore’s recommendation to hire Darla Dear as chief financial officer during a special called meeting Wednesday. The board also approved Moore’s recommendation to hire Jacob Alford as a teacher/coach.
Grievance hearings on complaints filed by Mark Davis on Dec. 9, Jan. 29 and Feb. 2 were heard during an executive session. Upon return to open session, the board approved ratifying the notice sent from the administration to the grievant dated Dec. 6, 2024 and issued on Dec. 9, 2024. The board approved dismissing the Jan. 29 complaint, finding that it was not timely filed. The remedies requested on the Feb. 2 complaint were granted in part because the student’s records have been updated and training has and will occur and denied in part because the district’s policies and procedures do not require revision.
Region VI Education Service Center Facilitator Steve Pierce led a board workshop on school district finances.
A public hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Reports will be held when the board convenes at 6 p.m. Monday for its regular meeting.
A resolution of the board regarding wage payments during emergency school closings will be considered for action.
An executive session is on the agenda, but any action will be taken upon return to open session.
Administrative and informational reports will be presented.
Items on the consent agenda include two budget amendments, personal property donations, overnight trips, minutes of the previous meeting, the financial statement and payment of bills.
