Close to 70 people attended the first meeting of the Livingston ISD Strategic Planning Committee Monday in the Livingston High School cafeteria.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Pack highlighted the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of the district during the March 16 meeting of the Livingston School Board at which time the board approved formation of a strategic planning committee to engage stakeholders in developing the district’s vision, mission and long-term goals.

Representing the diverse perspectives and geographic areas of the LISD community, the ad hoc advisory committee was established for a defined purpose and limited duration and will serve in an advisory capacity.

The strategic planning committee’s role is to develop a broad, comprehensive and collaborative strategic planning document that will guide the district for approximately five years. Its work is focused on long-term direction and priorities, not day-to-day operational decisions.

The district contracted with Roz Keck of N2 Learning which was established in 2011 with a mission to help school districts achieve their highest aspirations. N2 has worked with education entities across the state of Texas and beyond on projects such as leadership development, planning and facilitation, transformational learning environments, search services, and assessment and accountability.

A founding partner of N2, Keck has more than 30 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent.

In carrying out its work, the strategic planning committee will engage stakeholders across the district, consider relevant data and performance trends, review existing district plans and policies, and ensure alignment with the district’s core values and legal responsibilities – all while striving for broad consensus in its recommendations.

The result of the process will be a coherent and aspirational strategic plan that articulates the district’s beliefs and provides a clear vision, mission, objectives, goals, strategies, and action steps aligned to student success and community priorities.

With a series of meetings scheduled throughout the remainder of the calendar year, the strategic committee will present a proposed strategic plan recommendation to the board no later than December 2026.
