De’Andre Shermail Wright, 24 of Livingston, entered a guilty plea on Jan. 13 and was sentenced to 50 years for the May 5, 2024 murder of Jasmine Muldoon, 25 of Livingston.

Muldoon was reported missing on May 5, 2024, having last been seen in the early morning hours of May 5. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers Division engaged a search team which ultimately found Muldoon’s body in a wooded area off US Hwy. 59 a few miles north of Livingston on May 6, 2024.

First Assistant District Attorney Tami Pierce and Assistant District Attorney Aaron DiIorio were prepared to begin trial on Jan. 13. However, following conversations with the family and considering the emotional impact of an extended trial on the family, the state agreed to a recommendation of 50 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in exchange for a guilty plea.

Wright was sentenced in the 411th Judicial District Court before the Honorable Judge John E. Wells III.

According to the Polk County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Muldoon had a tumultuous relationship with Wright that consequently resulted in her death from a stab wound, leaving four children without their mother.

“Without the dedicated response of our law enforcement partners, our office would be unable to seek the justice that our community deserves. The Polk County District Attorney’s Office and our law enforcement partners remain committed to holding offenders accountable for the safety of our community,” Polk County Criminal District Attorney Shelly Bush Sitton said.

“The district attorney’s office and the family of Ms. Muldoon want to express that domestic violence in a relationship is never OK or acceptable behavior. If you are in a situation of domestic violence, please reach out to your local law enforcement agencies for guidance on how to seek assistance,” Sitton said.
