A chili cookoff to raise funds for the Cole Overstreet Memorial Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is slated for Jan. 25 at Pedigo Park with the funds raised going toward scholarships for graduating seniors in memory of Cole.
There will be three categories – adult, wild game and youth 16 and under. There is a $35 registration fee for the adult and wild game categories and a $10 registration fee for the youth 16 and under category. Anyone planning to enter both the adult and wild game category may register for $50.
There will also be a cornhole tournament and there is a $20 registration fee to enter that competition. There will also be a silent auction, vendors and more.
Registration and setup will begin at 7 a.m., with cooking beginning at 9 a.m.
Due to an overwhelming number of requests, event organizers made a couple of changes for the cookoff. Entrants will now be allowed to prepare their chili beforehand. However, those preferring to cook onsite are still welcome to. Additionally, beans will be allowed in the chili.
The main objective is for everyone to come and have fun together and support a great cause. For additional information, email April Overstreet at aprilsinternet@aol.com.
