Polk County Cares to host 12th annual crawfish, shrimp boil

The 12th annual Crawfish and Shrimp Boil benefiting Polk County charities is slated for Feb. 8 at the Polk County Commerce Center. Cocktails will start at 5 p.m. with all you can eat crawfish and shrimp from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and a live auction at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and reserved tables for eight are available for purchase. Additionally, there will be two raffle items available – a Louis Vuitton designer purse and a whole processed steer. Raffle tickets are $10 apiece.

The annual event is hosted by Polk County Cares, a 501(c)3 organization that puts community donations to work in the community. Its purpose is to raise funds to be distributed to qualifying non-profit organizations within Polk County. Toni Cochran Hughes and Scott Hughes created the organization together in 2021.

Over $235,348 has been donated to Polk County charities in the four years since PCC was formed. In 2024, funds were contributed to Center of Hope Cancer Support, F.A.I.T.H. Military Support Group, Christmas of Hope, Campaign 300, R.E.A.D. Inc., House of Mary, Rhett Lathan Memorial Scholarship Fund and Macelynn’s Miracles.
