Law enforcement from throughout the county responded to a shooting in the Leggett area just north of FM 942 East Wednesday morning at a residence located on Willson Road.
Upon arrival, law enforcement secured the scene and identified the suspect as Lee David Strole, 39, of Livingston. Following an extensive search of the surrounding area, Strole was located in a wooded area near Parrish Road and taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported by Life Flight to an out-of-county hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“At this time, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office would like to assure the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” Captain Dave Sottosanti said.
“Sheriff Lyons extends his sincere appreciation to the numerous agencies that provided assistance, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers, Livingston Police Department, Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,” Sottosanti said. “Many others also assisted in this operation, and we are truly grateful for their support and cooperation.”
As of press time, Strole had been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, bond forfeiture for an evading arrest or detention with vehicle charge, and aggravated assault of a family member on an outstanding Harris County warrant. He remains in the Polk County Jail.
The investigation remains active and no further details are being released at this time.
