Streamlining services to better serve you

Today is the last Sunday issue of the Polk County Enterprise.

“We’re choosing to merge the two current print products into one big product each week. We will continue to provide the digital version of that product on Wednesdays, our twice-weekly newsletter via email on Mondays and Saturdays, breaking news on our social media and regional news on easttexasnews.com,” Publisher Kelli Barnes said.

“Our goal is to continue to provide the best possible news coverage for our readers in Polk County. We feel that one big print paper a week is a better use of our resources, so effective immediately, we are streamlining our services,” Barnes said.

“We want to thank our readers and our advertisers for your continued support as we navigate through our hybrid news coverage using both print and digital platforms,” she said.

It was reported June 25 that the company is for sale. Alvin Holley purchased Polk County Publishing Company in 1974. Today, the company comprises both print and digital versions of four county newspapers (Polk County Enterprise, Tyler County Booster, Trinity County News-Standard and San Jacinto News-Times), a regional website, a quarterly regional magazine, and three properties.

“Mr. Holley cares most about providing a free and independent press, and quality/relevant advertising for the communities we serve. He also cares about you, our readers. And of course, the most valuable resource, the employees who work tirelessly providing these services we believe are vital to growing strong communities,” Barnes said.
