The Onalaska Lady Wildcats rolled past the Goodrich Lady Hornets 74-15 on Tuesday.
Goodrich struggled in the first game of the year, as the visiting Lady Cats created turnovers throughout the night to result in the blowout.
“We are just working on fundamentals, because many of our players are still young,” said Lady Hornets head coach Pinellafie Johnson. “There were times where we just stopped (hustling). We just have to keep our composure moving forward.”
Onalaska is now 2-1 so far this season, with Tuesday being its largest victory at this point.
“Goodrich fought hard, but we still have things to work on as far as discipline, being sound on defense and patient on offense. I am still proud of the overall effort tonight,” said Lady Wildcat head coach Kenesha Saygo.
Lady Cat senior Alora Pinkert was the game’s leading scorer with 24 total points.
The teams started back and forth with turnovers, but Pinkert would spark the opening run with the first 3-pointer.
Goodrich was outscored 28-4 in the first period, but improved slightly to 17-7 under Onalaska in the second. However, the Lady Hornets started to collapse after halftime and went scoreless in the third period.
Aaliyah Wright was the leading scorer for Goodrich with 10 total points.
The Onalaska Wildcat boys varsity team followed up later that night with a 97-7 win over the Goodrich Hornets.
