Larry Pfeil, a longtime community leader, entrepreneur, and public-safety advocate, has officially declared his candidacy for Polk County judge in the upcoming 2026 election cycle.
Pfeil, a Texas native, brings a diverse professional background to the race that spans public service, business leadership, and community involvement.
Early in his career, he served as a paramedic and firefighter, a foundation that informed his lifelong commitment to public safety and community well-being.
He later earned a business degree from the University of Houston and a law degree from South Texas College of Law, equipping him with the skills to lead in both private sector and civic roles.
After completing his education, Pfeil built and led successful companies across various sectors, including advanced technology, power infrastructure systems, communications, and regulatory consulting. His track record in business reflects decades of experience in job creation, financial management, and strategic problem-solving – attributes he says are essential for effective county leadership.
Pfeil and his wife, Amanda, a physician and medical school assistant professor, chose Polk County as their permanent home years ago. Today they are active in the community, enjoying family life with their children and grandchildren and investing in the area’s future. Pfeil also operates local businesses near Lake Livingston, helping strengthen the county’s economic base and enhance quality of life for residents.
In outlining his campaign priorities, Pfeil emphasizes public safety, economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and fiscal responsibility.
Drawing on his firsthand experience as a first responder, he pledges to work for increased funding for law enforcement and emergency services to ensure quicker response times in critical situations.
Economic development is another central focus of Pfeil’s platform. He aims to attract new businesses and tourism opportunities to Polk County, broaden the local tax base, and create jobs while preserving the character of the community. On infrastructure, Pfeil highlights the need for targeted upgrades to roads, bridges, and utilities to support growth.
Pfeil also stresses the importance of transparent and disciplined budgeting.
“Polk County and the taxpayers are the number one priority,” he states, promising to bring real-world business sense to the commissioners’ court and ensure county resources are used effectively and accountably.
As the race for county judge unfolds, Pfeil’s campaign positions him as a candidate grounded in community service, professional achievement, and a commitment to conservative values that resonate with many Polk County voters.
