Players to heat up Christmas season

The Livingston Community Jazz Band will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Polk County Commerce Center located at 1017 US-59 Loop North in Livingston. Come hear all your favorite Christmas tunes performed Swing Band-Style.

The Livingston Community Jazz Band led by Dr. Jimmy Simmons is made up of local and regional professional musicians.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share our talents with the Livingston Community Concert Series Patrons and look forward to this special concert every year,” Simmons said.

In addition to Simmons, other local performers include Ethan Ainsworth, Rene Vore, Angie Garner, Lamar Boulet, Jesse Albert and Michael Parish. Lufkin performers include Dixon Shanks, Mark Saldana, Steven Brown and Jimmy Battle. Musicians from surrounding communities are Fred Turner, David McArthur, Jeff Simons, Kurt Killion, Carl Woodall, Danny Williams, Luke Vaca, Michael Johnson and Rakin Peters.

The concert will also feature the Livingston High School Choir directed by Rene Vore in an “Audience Sing Along.”

Special guests will be the “Dixon Chicks” featuring Debbie Shanks, Angie Garner and Anya Lundberg.

The band’s program will include Christmas favorites such as “Jingle Bells,” “The Christmas Song,” “Frosty the Snowman,” Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas,” plus Big Band favorites like Glen Miller’s “In The Mood.”
