The Salvation Army red kettles are back again this year at Walmart in Livingston. The red kettle bell ringing is the only fundraising event for the Polk County Unit and all of the money collected stays here in Polk County and is administered by local volunteers to help mainly with utility bills and a few other needs that arise. During the 2024 fiscal year, there were 564 clients served. Volunteers are being sought to ring bells for one or two hour shifts this Christmas season. The bell ringing will take place through Dec. 24 every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Sundays. There will be stations at each of the front entrances. Chairs are provided. If you have the first or last shift of the day, someone will be there to get things set up and to take things down. To sign up to volunteer, contact Volunteer Coordinator Susan Duncan at 936-200-1008 or via email at bellringerlivingston@gmail.com. Courtesy photo
