Funeral services for Sherman James Williams, 84, of Livingston, Texas, were held Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Indian Village Assembly of God Church in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Keith Tucker officiating. Interment followed at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation was held Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m. at the church.

Sherman was born on the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation at 6:30 pm on December 19, 1941 on a crisp December evening to the late Ralph Legget Williams and the late Dora Sylestine Williams and passed away July 23, 2026 in Livingston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; late wife, Sissie Stafford-Williams; brothers, Edgar Williams, Clarence “Murphy” Williams, Merrill “Bobby Joe” Williams, Roy Williams, Kenneth “Woody” Williams; and sister Delma Williams.

Sherman,  who was the eldest member of the Itcho Ayiksa, is survived by his son, Grayson Williams and wife Sandra Williams of San Antonio; daughters, Vanessa Williams and Felicia Littlecreek and companion Kinney Alec of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation; brother, Dolen Williams and wife Mary Williams of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Lenora Williams and Judy Williams of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation; grandchildren, Taino Williams, Ashley Battise, Gregory Battise, Alannah, Dwight, Clancy Littlecreek and Matty Littlecreek; great-grandchildren, Yaheira Battise and Ezra Battise; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Danny Renfro, Bryan Boi Torres, Stewart Poncho, Noah Wilkerson, Troy Langley, and Jacob Torres. Honorary pallbearers were Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Veterans, Charlie Sylestine, Donnis Battise, Joyce Poncho and Kinney Alec.
