The Goodrich ISD Board recognized a teacher and students, discussed ongoing activities and approved a compensation plan in its most recent meeting.
Technology teacher Sharon Steffler and her students were recognized for achieving Microsoft certifications.
Superintendent Daniel Barton reported that elementary teachers recently visited Flatonia ISD for observation. He also mentioned that the planning process for the 2025-26 compensation plan is currently underway. Providing an update on staff members, the superintendent mentioned those pursuing their CDL certifications, as well as the progress of the AG shop renovation and the installation of new doors.
The board took several actions during the meeting, including the approval of the 2025-2026 academic calendar, the targeted improvement plan, and the HB3 goals presented by consultant Rebecca Suttles.
The board also approved compensation for staff for two inclement weather days on Jan. 21-22. A board workshop on compensation planning was scheduled for March 20 at 5 p.m. In final actions, the board appointed Kayla Scott to fill the vacant Position 7 and consideration of contract renewals per the superintendent’s recommendation.
