Funeral services for Tommy Hensley, 71, of Camden were held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lesly Wilkinson officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Hensley was born May 16, 1953, in Onalaska, Texas to the late Bessie (Sprayberry) and John Allen Hensley Sr. and died Sunday, November 24, 2024, in a hospice facility.
Tommy loved to be outside. Simple things like sitting on the porch and watching the squirrels play, working his garden, or roaming the woods looking for a trophy buck made him happy. He loved his family, and he loved to work. From the time he was an adult until the moment age and health took his physical ability to do so, he was on the job. For almost 50 years he woke up early and got in a big rig and hauled the items that help our community and country go. He drove a fuel truck for M.C. Hughes Oil Company for many years. Later he started work for The Wonder Company where he transported landscaping materials all over the state and southern U.S. Tommy finished his career working for his good friend, Jimmy Taylor, driving a log truck. He took great pride in his safety record, his upkeep on this rig, and his dependability. Tommy would always show up and the load would be delivered.
