Livingston softball dropped a hard-fought contest to Huffman Hargrave 7-5 Friday in Polk County. The contest featured a pair of state-ranked teams.

Both schools had opportunities, but it was the Lady Falcons that had more offense on the day. They began by scoring two in the second inning, but Livingston soon had an answer.

In the bottom of the second, Alexyis Richardson drove in a run on a fielder's choice, as she beat out the throw at first base. Taylor Wright drove in two runs with a double, giving the Lady Lions a 3-2 lead.

The girls from Huffman got a run on a sacrifice fly and another on a triple that came in with a throwing error, putting them back on top, 4-3.

Evening the score at four, Corinne Henderson slapped a sacrifice grounder to shortstop with two on.

Hargrave again broke the tie in the top of the fifth with an RBI-double and RBI-single, making the score 6-4 in the top of the fifth.

Richardson circled the bases on a ball that got past the right fielder and all the way to the wall, cutting that lead in half in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Falcons would add an insurance run in the final inning on an RBI-single.

Brooke Anderson started the game in the circle for Livingston, while Raigen Long came on in relief. The Lady Lions received an off day Tuesday, and will travel to Sour Lake Friday to take on Hardin-Jefferson.
