COLDSPRING — The San Jacinto County Commissioners Court approved several measures to help county residents continue the recovery from the 2024 storms.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the county approved a memorandum of understanding with Disaster Services Corp. of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

DSC Emergency Manager Jeff Williams said that his organization offers services for the long-term recovery from Hurricane Beryl, as well as the rainstorms that occurred around the same time.

The organization has been working since July and is set to work through July 2026, but has requested an extension as they have received 4,224 applications for assistance just in San Jacinto County.

The group helps victims assess specific needs and helps find resources.
