SHEPHERD — The Shepherd Lady Pirates hosted the Livingston Lady Lions on Friday night in a packed gym full of fans from both schools. While the scoreboard may not have tilted in Shepherd’s favor, the game proved once again that this year’s Lady Pirates are building something special.
The opening set was a thriller, with both teams trading points in a tug-of-war battle that had the crowd on their feet. Every serve, every dig, every return was matched point-for-point until the Lady Pirates pulled ahead at the finish line, sealing the set 25–23.
The second and third sets, however, highlighted the challenge the Lady Pirates face this season. Livingston, stacked with experienced seniors, found their rhythm late in the second and held on for a 25-14 win. Shepherd fought back in the third, even holding the lead midway, but the Lady Lions regrouped and edged it out 25-19 before closing the night with a 25-8 final set.
On Sept. 9, the Lady Pirates posted a 3-0 (17-25, 15-25, 17-25) loss to Hardin-Jefferson.
Brooklyn White led with 5 kills and 5 digs, while Callie Dean had 6 digs.
The Coldspring Lady Trojans lost to Huntsville 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 18-25) on Sept. 9.
