COLDSPRING — As the Coldspring Lady Trojans Volleyball team prepares to enter the postseason, another group of Lady Trojans is just beginning their journey. On Wednesday evening, the Coldspring Lady Trojans Basketball team hit the court for tryouts part one, marking the official start of what promises to be a new era of basketball in Coldspring.

The excitement is real, new coaches, new playbooks, new energy, and a clean slate. Leading the charge is Head Coach Jasmine Becks, a proud Coldspring alumna returning home to guide the next generation of Lady Trojans.

Coach Becks shared her vision for the team: “My expectations for the girls are to give 110 percent, not just on the court, but in the classroom and in life. Be ready for change, for growth, for leadership, and for commitment. This is a new era; we’re leaving the past in the past and starting fresh.”

That message, new beginnings, renewed purpose, is already fueling the team’s energy.

One of the returning sparkplugs for the Lady Trojans is sophomore standout A’layah “Little Goffney” Goffney, known last season for her fearless shooting and relentless defense.

“This season, I want to be a better leader, a better point guard, and give my team the best shot at making a playoff run,” Goffney said. “We know Anderson and New Waverly will be tough, but we’re ready to push hard through district.”

Senior Stormi Whitaker, a strong presence in the post, echoed that confidence.

“I feel like this will be a great season,” she said. “Coach Becks is going to bring us to where we need to be by the end. I’m just excited to get back on the court and get things rolling.”

With a new philosophy, renewed faith, and a team eager to grow, the Lady Trojans are embracing their theme for the season, drawn from Philippians 1:6: “God’s Word: New Era.”

The future of Coldspring basketball looks bright, and this group is ready to prove that the next chapter of Lady Trojans history starts now.
