SHEPHERD — The City of Shepherd will have to rebid for a grant administrator to oversee the funds for work on disaster-related project.

City Secretary Debra Hagler said that at the Dept. 8 meeting, the Board of Aldermen was prepared to award a bid for grant administration; however, the administration was informed by the Texas General Land Office since the city received only one bid, it will have to repeat the process.

Hagler said that If in the second go-round there is only one bid returned, then it can be accepted.

She said the Community Development Block Grant through the GLO is to help the city repair damages incurred during the rainstorms and Hurricane Beryl in 2024.

In other business, board members:

  • tabled an ordinance regarding the installation of speed bumps on city roads for more work;
  • took no action on the FY 2026 budget. It will be approved at a special meeting to be held Monday;
  • agreed to extend contract for a day laborer for a year; and
  • approved resolution for the county hazard mitigation plan.
