COLDSPRING — The Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Board of Regents canvassed the results of the Nov. 4 election and discussed the disappointing result.
The $45 million bond issue failed 1,042 for, 1,507 against. The district sought to use bonds to upgrade aging facilities.
Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton called the results disappointing, so they will go back to the drawing board in hopes of shifting some mindsets.
“We have highest expectations of our students, and our buildings don’t match that,” he said.
In a separate matter, the board held a public hearing on the district’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas rating, which was 82, or a B.
Taulton said that one of the issues that lowered their rating was cash on hand, which was only 30 days while the state requires enough cash on hand to fund the district for 90 days.
He said those amounts should go up next year.
