The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has arrested a 22-year-old Shepherd man on Sept. 29 following an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault involving a 16-year-old victim.
The investigation began after the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office regarding a call on Aug. 13, in the Tomball area. During that call, information was reported concerning an alleged sexual assault involving a 16-year-old victim and Isaias Escobar, 22, of Shepherd.
San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office detectives subsequently initiated an investigation after information indicated the alleged offense occurred within San Jacinto County.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim had attended an overnight gathering at the Escobar residence in Shepherd with other members of a church youth group. Investigators were informed that Escobar was involved with the youth program at Grace the Woodlands and was serving as a youth pastor in training.
According to information developed during the investigation, the victim alleged that during the overnight gathering, Escobar entered the room where she was sleeping, woke her, and engaged in sexual conduct with her.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Escobar. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.
The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office will not release the identity of the juvenile victim or information that could reasonably lead to the victim’s identification.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
