COLDSPRING — The Coldspring City Council is moving ahead in requiring a local salvage yard to erect a fence to cover the eyesore.
Mayor John Benestante said that at the July 7 meeting, the council authorized him to send final notice to the wrecking yard on Highway 150 about the fencing ordinance, giving the owners seven days to respond.
He also said that property owners on Parker Street will be given final notice about collecting and burning trash
If there is no response or remedy, Benestante said the city will then issue on citation.
In other business, council members:
• discussed bids for removal of a pine tree for a city project, and trees in several areas around the city will be removed;
• tabled discussion regarding the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department until after this week’s meeting of the Emergency Services District;
• read a proclamation for the Coldspring Library’s 40th anniversary; and
• discusses the city’s finances in a semi-annual review. Benestante said that the city is 18 percent ahead of its projected revenue stream.
