COCISD discusses performance

COLDSPRING — Academic performances and this year's expectations were the focus of the Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Board of Trustees.

At the Jan. 20 meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Beth Klammer, took the floor at the public hearing with important information on the district’s Texas Academic Performance Report.

“They [TARP] compile conference of data on student performance across every school and district in Texas,” Klammer said, pointing out that for the 2025 special education determination status meets requirements, which is a huge accomplishment for the district.

In addition, Klammer provided the board with updates from the Curriculum and Instruction Department. Klammer highlights the month of February for when the board can expect new information on semester exams, TIA status and grants to instructional support.

Furthermore, the Chief Financial Officer, Adam Jenke, provided the board with updates on the proposed budget calendar for 2026-27 fiscal year.

In other business:

  • The board was presented with gifts and honors during the meeting for their contributions to the district on School Board Recognition Month.
  • Brandi Keele and Dr. Karen Garza took the podium to inform the board on the current status of the Lincoln Jr. High Turnaround Plan.
  • The board did not approve the 2026-27 Academic Calendar and tabled the discussion for the next meeting.
  • The board did not approve the required Public Information Act business days calendar for 2026-27 and tabled the discussion for the next meeting.
  • The board did not find the district’s budget financially feasible to purchase buses equipped with 3-point seat belts.
  • The board approved the adoption of TASB Policy Update 126.
  • The board approved district participation in the Texas CLASS Investment Pool.
