COLDSPRING — The Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Board of Trustees discussed individual campuses and current goals for the 2025-2026 school year.
At the Oct. 27 meeting, Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton states that COCISD is continuing to prioritize academic growth.
“This is really a defining year for our district academically,” he said.
Taulton stated that the Coldspring Intermediate School has a rating of 74, and the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School is currently rated a 75, which is the second-highest rating ever recorded for both campuses. However, COCISD has high hopes to increase the schools’ rating into the 80s.
Furthermore, Taulton insists that the Lincoln Junior High campus is the campus that needs the most improvement. With the assistance of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Beth Klammer and Lincoln Junior High Principal Brandi Keel, Taulton said he hopes to implement the TEA-approved Turnaround Plan to increase academic success at Lincoln Junior High.
“That campus is our high-focus campus, just because that campus has never been rated with the accountability system, so this will be the year we have an official rating,” Taulton said.
The principals at COCISD campuses — Sholanda Washington of James Street Elementary, Paula McClendon of the Intermediate School, Brandi Keel of the Lincoln Junior High, and Courtney Robinson of the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School — gave brief updates on their respective campuses. Campus reports included monthly attendance and upcoming events.
