COCISD edges up in education ratings

COLDSPRING — The Texas Education Agency releases 2024-2025 A–F Accountability Ratings on Friday, August 15, and Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD is positioned to earn a D rating (69) — representing a significant 12-point improvement from our 2023 baseline when TEA introduced the current accountability framework.

The district remains committed to continuous improvement. Student success is the bottom line — the most important work happens in our classrooms.

Campus highlights include:

  • Coldspring Intermediate (Grades 3–5), Rating: 74 (C)

—15-point overall rating increase in just two years (59 in 2023, 63 in 2024 and 74 in 2025)

—Tremendous Reading Language Arts performance with 15-point improvement (3rd to 4th grade) and 13-point reading improvement (4th to 5th grade)

  • Lincoln Junior High (Grades 6–8), High-Focus Campus

—A comprehensive turnaround plan is being implemented for 2025-26

—31-point improvement in Algebra I (21 percent to 52 percent at Meets or Above)

—Steady progress in Reading Language Arts performance across grades 6-8

—Four-year highs at Meets or Above in 8th-grade Science and Social Studies

  • Coldspring-Oakhurst High School (Grades 9–12), Rating: 75 (C)

Dramatic 20-point overall rating increase in just two years (55 in 2023, 74 in 2024 and 75 in 2025)

—Outstanding School Progress: 81 (B)

—Exceptional College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Growth over time — 2022: 40 percent (C), 2023: 36 percent (D), 2024: 78 percent (B), and 2025: 92 percent (A)

—Mathematics Enhancement: Intensive strengthening across all grade levels to accelerate student achievement and close performance gaps.
