It was a challenging Friday night for the Coldspring Lady Trojans, as an injury-plagued roster faced a high-energy Anderson-Shiro squad and fell 10-0.
But despite the final score, Coldspring’s effort and determination never wavered from the first pitch to the final out.
Anderson-Shiro wasted no time setting the tone in the top of the first inning. A double down the left field line brought in the game’s first run, followed by another double that pushed the lead to 2-0. Later in the inning, a single added two more runs, giving the Lady Owls an early advantage.
The momentum continued in the second inning, as Anderson-Shiro added two more runs to extend its lead. In the third, the Lady Owls capitalized again with an inside-the-park home run, plating two runs. They capped their scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run shot to center field.
Freshman Cassidy Loll took the circle for Coldspring and battled through five innings against a relentless lineup. She allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits while striking out four and walking one, continuing to compete pitch after pitch.
Offensively, Olivia Lee led the Lady Trojans, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate.

The Lady Owls set the tone early, getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single to take a quick 1-0 lead. Anderson-Shiro continued to build momentum in the second, delivering the game’s biggest blow, a grand slam launched over the center field fence to extend the lead to 5-0.
Coldspring battled to slow the momentum, but Anderson-Shiro added to its advantage in the third inning, using a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to push the lead to 6-0.
Loll took the loss in the circle for the Lady Trojans, pitching 4⅔ innings while allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 13 hits. She struck out two and walked one in the effort. Anderson-Shiro’s starting pitcher was dominant, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just four hits, striking out four, and issuing only one walk.
Offensively, the Lady Trojans saw contributions from Taonna McGraw, Krissie Bennett, Abby Murphy, and Loll, who each recorded a hit. Loll also added some spark on the bases, swiping two steals.
Despite outhitting Hardin 9-4, the Lady Pirates couldn’t convert opportunities and lost 8-5 on Friday.
Shepherd’s offense was active throughout the night, with Adison Simpson, Jayci Wilson, and Destiny Warner each collecting two hits. Skyleigh Lagow provided a key spark, launching a home run to left field in the third inning to tie the game 2-2.
Hardin first broke through in the second inning, capitalizing on a Shepherd error to take a 1-0 lead, and added another unearned run in the third. After Lagow’s game-tying blast, Hardin regained the lead in the fourth on a groundout by Libby Wing, making it 3-2.
In the circle, Jayci Wilson gave Shepherd a solid start, allowing just one hit over four innings while surrendering three runs, none earned, and striking out three. Gracci Bellard took the loss in relief, as control issues led to four runs scoring in a brief outing.
Lagow led the Lady Pirates with three RBIs, while the team’s nine hits highlighted their ability to consistently put the ball in play. Hardin, meanwhile, made the most of its opportunities.
Shepherd showed fight throughout much of the March 24 district tilt, but a late surge by Livingston proved to be the difference in a 9-4 district loss.
Shepherd struck first in the second inning when Isabelle Hooper showcased heads-up baserunning, tagging up from third to score and give the Lady Pirates an early spark. Livingston answered back in the fourth inning, tying the game after a deep double to center field by Brooklyn Dueberry.
Despite the push from the Lady Lions, Shepherd responded once again. In the top of the fifth, Hooper delivered again — this time driving in a run on a groundout to give the Lady Pirates a 3-2 lead and regain momentum.
But Livingston refused to go away. The Lady Lions tied the game in the bottom of the fifth and then broke things wide open in the sixth inning, scoring six runs to flip the game and take control. The Lady Pirates continued to compete until the final out, as Jayci Wilson blasted a solo home run over the center field fence in the seventh inning, providing a strong finish and a reminder of Shepherd’s offensive potential.
In the circle, Isabelle Hooper battled through six innings, striking out an impressive 11 batters while facing a persistent Livingston lineup. Offensively, Shepherd spread out its hits, with contributions from Karsyn Wiley, Skyleigh Lagow, Adison Simpson, Jayci Wilson, and Hooper. Wiley also led the team with two RBIs.
