COLDSPRING — The Coldspring City Council met Jan. 5 to provide updates on where this year's funding will be spent.

Mayor John Benestante briefed the council on Texas Parks and Wildlife improvements, progress on the Faulkner project, and extended sewer gravity line.

“When you look at your 2026 budget, you're going to see that some of that money over there will be spending it on three of those projects,” he said. “Part of our goal, this coming year, is to finish some of the projects that we have started.”

Benestante hopes to acquire a low-interest $1 million dollar loan from the state and match it with $100,000 to rebuild Coldspring’s community center in mid-2026.

Benestante also provided the council with an outline of the Coldspring’s new walking trail along with a drawing of a new Public Works/Maintenance Operation Building located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Both plans were approved by the board with no discussion.
