WALLER — Shepherd and Coldspring-Oakhurst FFA members traveled early Wednesday to Waller to compete in the Career Development Events contests.
Both teams fared well in the event, which allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, develop critical thinking skills, and grow as future leaders in the agriculture industry.
For Coldspring, their accomplishments include:
Waller FFA CDE Invitational:
Milk Quality: Placed 43rd
Poultry Judging: Placed 33rd
Livestock Judging: Placed 43rd & 120th
Entomology: Placed 13th
Floriculture: Placed 40th
Horse Judging: Placed 43rd
Frank Martin placed fifth individual
For Shepherd:
Floriculture: Placed 57th
Horse Judging: Placed 78th
Poultry Judging: Placed 28th
Vet Tech: Placed 62nd
On Thursday, both teams participated in the Katy FFA CDE Invitational. The results were:
Coldspring
Entomology: Placed 21st
Floriculture: Placed 37th
Milk Quality: Placed 38th
Poultry Judging: Placed 45th
For Shepherd, the one event they entered was poultry judging, where they placed 49th.
Coldspring also participated in the Pearland FFA CDE Invitational, where the forage team placed 6th.
