LIVINGSTON — The Coldspring Trojans are in a rebuilding season, learning a brand-new playbook under a new coaching staff. But if Friday’s scrimmage in Livingston proved anything, it’s that Trojan pride is alive and well, and this team refuses to back down from the challenge ahead.
Coming off a strong showing the week before, the Trojans hit the field with grit and energy. Scrimmages are designed to fine-tune the playbook, test new offensive looks, and experiment with defensive stunts, and the Trojans did exactly that.
The plan was simple: rotate offensive and defensive reps, then give the younger players their chance to step in. By the time the real-time portion of the scrimmage rolled around, the Trojans had shown flashes of what this new era of Coldspring football could look like.
While still a large 3A team, what sets this group apart is its speed and determination. If the Trojans can learn to stretch the field, capitalize on their quickness, and tighten up a few loose ends before district play, they could surprise a lot of people this year.

SHEPHERD — The Pirates hosted the Hardin Hornets Friday night for a scrimmage that came on the heels of an electrifying community pep rally introducing the entire team to Pirate Nation. Excitement filled the air as fans packed the stands, eager for a first look at their 2025 Pirates.
The evening opened with a controlled scrimmage, where coaches worked alongside players to fine-tune alignments and polish the basics. Once the whistle blew for the live-action portion, the intensity ramped up, and one name kept echoing across the field: Brayden White.
Known by teammates as Big Brayden, the junior tight end and defensive powerhouse delivered a performance that had fans buzzing. On defense, White was a wall, shutting down plays before they had a chance to develop. On offense, he bulldozed his way forward, breaking tackles and forcing his will on the Hornets’ defense.
With his size, speed, and sheer determination, White looked every bit the difference-maker, drawing comparisons to a player destined for the next level. As one fan put it, “The ‘S’ on his jersey may stand for Shepherd, but Hardin must have thought it meant Superman.”
The Pirates, as a whole, showed progress on both sides of the ball, using the scrimmage to sharpen plays and build chemistry.
Head Coach Miles Robison praised the effort: “I was proud of the boys last night. It’s good to get some actual live reps on film so we can teach. I think we’re starting to gel offensively and defensively, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
