SHEPHERD — The winds of change are blowing through Shepherd, and the air is electric with anticipation. With a deep bench of returning seniors, experienced lettermen, and a drive fueled by unfinished business, the Shepherd Pirates are ready to chart a new course, and it could lead straight to the playoffs.
Athletic Director and Head Coach Miles Robison summed it up perfectly: “If we stay healthy, with all this experience, we’re going to make some serious noise this year.” And that noise is already echoing through summer practices, where hustle, heart, and hunger have defined the grind.
Jacory Davis, the Pirates' hard-hitting Strong Safety, is fired up. “We’ve got a lot of returning guys who know what it takes. We’re putting in the time to become a championship team. Our offense is strong, and our defense—yeah, we’re fast and aggressive.”
At the helm of the offense, Quarterback Landen Dellinger is confident and ready to lead. “This year feels different. We’ve got speed. We’ve got depth. And our passing game? It’s going to be the best it’s ever been.”
If you like hard-nosed, run-heavy football, Coach Jeremy Bennett, the running backs coach, has a message for opposing defenses: “We’re coming right at you. If you stop us once, we’ll find another way—and keep coming until we break through.”
Coach Benjamin Goffney echoed that energy: “With this many returning starters and the kind of speed we’ve added, we’ll be a tough team to handle. The fans are going to love what they see.”
Coach Robison strength, and endurance. “The guys showed up every day ready to get better. This team is locked in.”
High energy. Explosive plays. Big crowds. And a team ready to fight for every inch of turf.
With Dellinger’s ability to spread the offense and keep defenses guessing, and a backfield determined to grind out every yard, this could be a breakthrough season for Shepherd. The Pirates aren’t just aiming to compete—they’re aiming to make history.
Grab your gear, paint your face, and fill those stands, because Pirate football is coming, and the ship is about to set sail for something special.
