COLDSPRING — The Coldspring City Council may increase safety for area events, particularly ones doors.
Mayor John Benestante said that at the Feb. 3 meeting, the council discussed potential changes to public event ordinances in light of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans.
A driver, believed to be from Houston, drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street and then began shooting.
Benestante said the city was considering creating zones that will exclude vehicles from around the Courthouse Square.
In a related matter, the council discussed a program that Benestante said will help promote tourism in the area — Visit Coldspring — and that the organization will be placed under the economic development umbrella.
