COLDSPRING — Internet and podcast personality Chad Prather gave the San Jacinto County Republicans a mission to build up the next generation in conservative values.
Prather was the keynote speaker at the newly christened Reagan/Trump Dinner, the annual fundraiser for the San Jacinto County Republican Party.
He told the crowd that we need to build the next generation by knowing who we are and taking risks.
“We have a huge opportunity,” he said. “If we start showing that we’re winning, we can create a vision for them.”
He also said he is thankful that we’re living in this time in history — that with the military, the government, and the first responders, we’re the greatest country in the world.
“I don’t miss Joe Biden a bit — that guy’s brain dead,” Prather said. “Then there’s Vice President word salad. Right now, there is such a huge difference over the last 14 years.”
The name of the dinner was changed as a surprise to the party’s leaders; Chairman Dwayne Wright surprised the county executive committee with a proclamation, which they signed during the event, changing the name to the Reagan/Trump Dinner.
Also speaking at the event was Rep. Janis Holt, R-Silsbee, who praised the SJC group, saying there’s not a greater force for conservatism than they were.
Sen. Charles Schwertner, R-Georgetown, gave an update on the current legislative session and the current political landscape.
“I’m happy to have a president that is alive, awake and alert,” he said. “The America first agenda is also correct.”
Schwertner said during this session, the Texas Legislature is working on property tax relief, teacher and retired teacher pay, border security and fighting the woke agenda and the three-letter words making up ESG and DEI.
